Beyond My Limits
Beyond My Limits
A super typhoon swept across Taiwan, leaving destruction in its wake.
Even the traffic lights near my house were blown away by the violent winds.
It was a storm of unprecedented strength.
This morning, although the sky was still overcast, I listened to a hymn and took a walk along the seaside path.
The road was littered with fallen trees—some uprooted, others snapped in half by the storm. These trees had stood tall for years, enduring countless winds and rains.
Yet, this time, they were no match for the typhoon.
The beach was almost impassable, covered with the debris of broken branches and trunks.
But what amazed me the most were the small patches of grass and wildflowers still standing strong.
Despite the storm’s fury, these humble plants remained vibrant and alive, as if they had merely been nourished by gentle rain.
I couldn’t help but wonder how scared they must have been during the night’s chaos.
Some trees survived, while others were brought down.
Reflecting on this scene, I was struck by the words of a hymn playing in my ears: “Beyond My Limits.”
The God Who Works Beyond My Limits
At that moment, I realized how fragile I truly am.
No matter how deep my roots or how strong I appear to be, my life can crumble in an instant.
I once thought I could be the unshakable pillar of strength for my family, but illness revealed just how weak I really am.
I reached a point where I felt I could no longer go on.
Exhausted and defeated, I wanted to give up. But then, God spoke to me:
“When you can’t go any further, leave it to Me.
When you reach your limits, that’s when I begin My work.”
The towering trees fell in the storm, yet the tiny grass survived.
However, even the grass may one day be harmed by a small insect or crushed underfoot by a passerby.
No matter how strong we seem, life is far too overwhelming to manage on our own.
The God Who Works Within Me
Strong yet weak, small yet resilient—this is the paradox of our existence.
We may overcome great challenges but stumble over the smallest obstacles.
Yet, these moments remind me of my own limitations and lead me to focus on the God who works within me.
God doesn’t leave us to face life’s storms alone.
Because of Him, the storm is no longer something to fear, but an opportunity to witness His mighty works.
When I reach my breaking point, when I am weary and helpless, God steps in as the strength that carries me forward.
“My every step is within the Lord.”
These words from the hymn remind me that my journey isn’t powered by my own strength, but guided by God.
He enables me to cross the barriers I could never overcome on my own.
So today, I start afresh, not with my own strength, but with the strength of the God who works within me.
“I can’t, but God can.” With His grace and power, I can rise above my limitations, step into hope, and move forward with confidence.
